TACOMA, WA – September 15, 2009 – If your doorbell rings during the next four weeks, it might be your invitation to help initiate the 100th anniversary party for Rainier Connect, a neighborhood provider of internet, TV and telephone services for Washington’s South Puget Sound region. Until mid-October, company CEO Brian Haynes is going door-to-door to meet and greet customers in Tacoma, Puyallup, Eatonville and Graham – a strategy the company used in 1910 when it first began telecommunications services.

“For 100 years, we’ve been connecting communities in the South Sound through telecommunications,” Haynes said. “Our longevity and success is due to our customers, some of whom are the fourth- or fifth-generation in their families to use Rainier Connect. As a fifth-generation member of the Haynes family to work for the company, I want to personally thank these customers and ask how we can better help the South Sound grow over the next century.”

Despite the Great Depression, world wars and natural disasters, Rainier Connect has survived and thrived over the last 99 years because it has continually reinvested in the communities it serves. According to Haynes, “We are firm believers in driving local value into the same places where our employees live and work, not just by offering better communication services, but by supporting the area’s organizations, businesses and schools. It’s how we built the company, and we’re using this upcoming anniversary to rededicate ourselves to this credo.”

As part of its anniversary campaign, the company will be expanding services, offering new promotions in conjunction with its ongoing sponsorship of the Tacoma Rainiers, completing the build-out of several local school and educational projects, rolling out programs in support of local merchants and launching a new affinity program through neighborhood professional and service organizations. Details of these offerings will be available in the coming months, leading up to the company’s anniversary celebration in 2010.
